December brings about the end of another year and another outstanding event season at FMR. Throughout the past year we were able to work with approximately 4,100 dedicated volunteers at over 100 events. Relive our season through the highlighted photos in our Best of 2014 album available on our Flickr photostream and see if you can spot yourself or a friend. You can also see some of our favorite locations along the river that you might want to explore next season!

Restoration events in 2014 ranged from lopping, hauling and stacking buckthorn in many sites along the river to stenciling storm drains and passing out flyers. FMR always ties education into our events in one-way or another, but we also offer focused workshop opportunities. Workshop topics range from in-home tips and tricks to help reduce your water footprint to building a rain barrel.

This year our volunteers went above and beyond on multiple occasions and didn't give up even during some of the most adverse weather conditions. A downpour and minor flooding didn't stop our volunteers; they continued planting and tending the rain garden at Crosby Farm Regional Park until all of the plants were in the ground. An end of the season snowstorm? Not a problem for Joe Beattie's students from Hastings High School; they went out and planted Cottonwood trees with us in the snow in mid-November. 2014 provided further proof that our restoration events will go on regardless of rain, snow or shine! Thank you once again to our hardworking volunteers for all of your time and support; we could not do it with out you!
