Working to protect the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities area

Oak Savanna Seeding

Display Date:
Sunday, October 12 — 1:00–3:00 pm
Location:
Near West River Parkway and 36th Street, Minneapolis

The Mississippi River Gorge is host to a diversity of plant communities and is highly valued by gorge neighborhood residents. The oak savanna includes the highest quality plant communities remaining in the River Gorge, including a mesic prairie and a remnant oak brushland/woodland that is undergoing restoration — thanks to countless volunteer hours — to oak savanna.

Carolyn Carr of Ecological Strategies will train volunteers to carry out the tasks associated with this restoration event: site preparation and spreading of desirable native seed.
