Working to protect the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities area

Vermillion Trout Survey (full)

Display Date:
Saturday, October 18, 9 a.m.-noon
Location:
Empire Township

Please note: This event has reached capacity. However a waiting list is being taken.

Come ready to explore the Vermillion River, the only trophy trout stream in the Twin Cities area. We will use nets and other tools to investigate aquatic life and learn about the importance of monitoring our local streams and rivers. During the tour participants will have an opportunity to assist Department of Natural Resources staff with a trout survey using a stream electrofisher, helping to collect and record important data about the fish inhabiting the Vermillion River.

Waders will be needed. Chest waders preferred. If you do not have waders, please let us know in your registration.

Pre-registration required and early registration encouraged for this particularly popular event. To be added to the waiting list, contact sue through our contact form -- please select "Tours, hikes" and NOT "General inquiries" as your registration may otherwise be delayed -- or at 651-222-2193 x14. Please include your name, the number in your party, contact information including an address and phone number and the name of the event in your message.
