Professional Bio

Sophie recently graduated from Macalester College with a degree in environmental studies, a minor in biology, and an emphasis in environmental justice. Previously, she worked as an intern at the local nonprofits Great River Greening and Climate Generation.

FMR Role

Sophie works for the Outreach, Advocacy, and Development Teams within FMR. For Outreach, she assists the Volunteer Coordinator during the event season, focusing on targeted outreach to communities surrounding FMR restoration sites, and provides support to the rest of the Outreach Team. Sophie also coordinates the River Guardians program, keeping over 2,000 advocates up to date on issues affecting Minnesota's water, and how they can take action on these issues, as well as assisting the Development Team in terms of data entry and management.

Personal Details

Sophie grew up in Minneapolis, close enough to the river that hikes and outdoor adventures were an important part of her childhood. She loves canoeing in the summer, ice skating in the winter, and in her free time enjoys reading novels, cooking, and listening to podcasts.
