Earth Day 2.0: River Gorge Cleanup
Volunteers with their Earth Day cleanup haul from the 2017 event.
Taking place just off of West River Parkway, this cleanup has become an Earth Day tradition in the Minneapolis River Gorge. The orignially scheduled April 21st event was postponed due to our delayed spring but now we're ready to get out, get our hands dirty and cleanup this beautiful spot along the river.
People come from throughout the local river corridor, neighborhoods and metro area – individuals, families, small church, corporate and student or scout groups – to contribute to the health and vitality of the Mississippi River. This is a family-friendly event providing an excellent opportunity to get outside and work together to help improve this treasured area. We've returned to this site year after year and have noticed a dramatic improvement in the area thanks to dedicated volunteers like you!
All are welcome! To participate, simply show up at E 36th St & W River Parkway at or after 9:30 a.m. to sign-in with FMR staff. We'll provide all of the supplies, however, if you have your own gloves feel free to bring them along. Sturdy shoes are strongly suggested as well as dressing for the weather – layers are encouraged.
Got a group?
Individuals are not required to register, but if you have a group of 10-19 please contact FMR Volunteer Coordinator Amy Kilgore via the contact form (please select Amy by name from the staff list under "Category") or at email@example.com, 651-222-2193 x31. Please include the name of the event, your name, group name, address and phone number along with the number in your party.
Groups of 20 or more should consider setting up a cleanup site just for their members. It's quick and easy, and helps ensure that cleanup efforts are better distributed throughout the city. To coordinate a cleanup site for your group, contact Erica Chua at firstname.lastname@example.org.
You will receive a confirmation email with details and directions from email@example.com within two business days. (If you don't, please check your SPAM folder.)
