Rain Barrel Rollout! -- WAITLIST -- Barrel & kit $40 - Proceeds benefit FMR
Show your love for the river with a rain barrel. These particular kits are known for being easy to install, so you can quickly complete this river-friendly backyard project and get on with your weekend.
Sorry! This event reached its maximum of 200 barrels sold much faster than we thought it would! However, we're working on either getting more barrels for this date or arranging more rain barrel workshops this summer. Please email email@example.com if you'd like to receive notice.FMR's rain barrel workshops have been reaching capacity within just hours of being added to the calendar! To help meet the demand, we've partnered with River Network and Coca-Cola for this Rain Barrel Rollout, selling 55-gallon rain barrels with retrofit kits for the comparatively low cost of $40 each (valued at a minimum $75).
Not only is this a great deal, but $15 from each sale benefits FMR! And if you're new to FMR, we'll count this towards an introductory, yearlong FMR membership so you can show your love for the river by installing a rain barrel and become an FMR member in the process.
We're thrilled rain barrels are suddenly so popular. They're a simple but effective way to both conserve water and reduce water pollution. During a storm, rainwater runs from roofs and yards into our streets and storm drains, picking up oil, fertilizers and other pollutants along the way. Storm drains then carry this polluted runoff water into our local lakes and rivers. So the more water we can capture or keep water where it lands be it with raingardens, permeable pavers or rain barrels the better!
This event is part of both a local and a national campaign:
FMR's Above the Falls program works with people and companies in North and Northeast Minneapolis (upstream of St. Anthony Falls) to help the river, and
River Network's Rain Barrel Rollout is placing thousands of rain barrels in communities across the nation conserving water, saving money on water bills, and raising funds for FMR and other water advocacy organizations.
