Ellie Rogers

Ellie Rogers Communications Associate at Friends of the Mississippi River

Communications Associate

Bio

Though her grandparents met while working at the field biology station at the headwaters of the Mississippi, Ellie grew up downriver in the Twin Cities. She developed an affinity for Minnesota’s lakes and rivers on childhood hikes and canoe adventures.

At Macalester College, she majored in environmental studies and became the herbarium curator and co-conspirator of the first green roofs in St. Paul. After graduation, Ellie moved to northwest Washington to work with Skagit Land Trust, an organization stewarding another beloved river valley. That job led to roles in nonprofit communications, teaching, editing and design. Her time there also helped her cultivate an even deeper land and water ethic.

Ellie moved back home to Minnesota to put down roots in 2018. She is overjoyed to have landed at FMR.

FMR Role

Ellie edits and pulls together FMR’s regular communications, including Mississippi Messages, our biannual print newsletters and our annual report. She manages social media and web content and gets to write articles and updates about FMR’s vital projects.
