FMR board member Yumi Kashihara poses with garlic mustard at the Rosemount Preserve

FMR Board Member Yumi Kashihara pulls garlic mustard at Rosemount Wildlife Preserve.

FMR has been involved in the restoration of Rosemount Wildlife Preserve for over 20 years, since the project began in 2003. This 26-acre site is located within the Northern Dakota County Greenway, a critical corridor for native wildlife and plants. Rosemount Preserve contains prairie and oak woodland, which we've restored through native plantings, prescribed burns and invasive species removal.

Join us to foster a more diverse woodland at Rosemount Preserve. Volunteers will pull invasive garlic mustard. Removing plants like garlic mustard will clear the way for native plant communities to return and thrive. Garlic mustard can be easily hand-pulled, and volunteers will quickly see the impact they can make in a short period of time.

Immediately after the volunteer event, volunteers are invited to join FMR for an optional volunteer social hour from 8 pm-9 pm at Rosemount Preserve's neighbor, North 20 Brewing. Alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages and food from the North 20 kitchen will be available for purchase.

All are welcome at this event. No experience is needed. However, registration is required, and capacity is limited. All tools, gloves and training will be provided. This event is part of the Vermillion Stewards program, helping residents learn about the watershed while working to protect and enhance its unique natural resources.

Accessibility

This event will take place on level to gently sloped terrain. There are no paved trails in the woodland. Pulling garlic mustard can be done while kneeling or sitting down, and FMR will provide a few kneeling pads.
