Stakeholder rulemaking comments summarized

FMR is actively promoting water quality, wildlife habitat and other key concerns through the Mississippi River Critical Area Reform stakeholder input process.

Development of state rules for the Mississippi River Corridor Critical Area (MRCCA) is underway at the Department of Natural Resources. Following up after the first round of stakeholder advisory group meetings March 31st, the DNR has posted a summary of meeting discussion topics and comments as well as a summary of all submitted written comments. Both reports provide an overview of the issues, concerns and hopes expressed about the Critical Area rulemaking process.

Next month, stakeholder advisory groups will reconvene to review and discuss draft Critical Area districts. The National Park Service is assisting the DNR by defining and describing draft districts within the corridor. Stay tuned!
