Top federal officials visit the Mississippi River

On August 4th, top-level Obama Administration officials met in Minneapolis to hold a Listening Session to hear from citizens, activists and elected officials about how the federal government can do a better job of protecting the environment and nurturing a love of nature among children.

US Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Lisa Jackson, White House Council on Environmental Quality Chair Nancy Sutley and other federal officials spent the day along the Mississippi River meeting with youth and discussing environmental topics with local advocates including FMR Executive Director, Whitney Clark.

An afternoon forum attracted more than 400 people who turned out to share their perspectives about how to address pressing environmental concerns such as runoff pollution and environmental education.
