35W bridge wreckage remains on Bohemian Flats
by Tom Elko
Steve Brandt of the Star Tribune reports that ongoing legal issues relating to the collapse of the 35W bridge in Minneapolis means the array of twisted steel girders will remain at the 7-acre Bohemian Flats parkland. MnDot has received court approval to move the wreckage, but did not receive protection from legal actions that could potentially be taken by defendants with cases still pending. The Minneapolis Park & Recreation board has denied MnDot's request to renew the permit allowing for the continued use of the parkland.
