What's going on with invasive carp in MN? Webinar + Q&A
Invasive carp pose a serious threat to our river ecosystems and hamper outdoor recreational opportunities. And they are steadily making their way upstream in the Mississippi River. So how do we stop them from establishing themselves in rivers, lakes and watersheds in the Twin Cities and beyond?
FMR is tackling this issue at the Capitol by supporting a bill that would provide funding to the Minnesota DNR to install carp deterrent systems at Lock and Dam 5 in Winona, Minnesota. These deterrents would would prevent invasive carp from moving further upstream, without impacting commercial traffic on the river.
