Green Routes

Planning your summer vacation, or maybe a weekend getaway? Turn it into an opportunity to support businesses and destinations committed to economic, environmental and social sustainability! The Green Routes web site is an easy-to-use tool to help you find one-of-a-kind places to eat, play, shop, sleep, and learn. Green Routes will help you discover small, unique businesses rooted in their communities; places to eat where the food is fresh from a family farm, and where you might bump into the farmers who grew it; places to have fun while helping ensure that our natural and cultural resources will be around for many generations to come. The goal of Green Routes is to help strengthen rural economies and small, locally owned businesses.

Using the familiar Google Maps interface, you can find green businesses at a specific destination, or add filters to narrow it down for places to eat, stay, shop, learn, and explore. You can also search or highlight selected routes.

Sign up for a monthly electronic newsletter, The Authentic Traveler, to read about highlighted destinations, green traveling tips, and information about upcoming events with a green twist. Visit the Green Routes web site to sign up.

Happy travels!
