Hastings bridge to be torn down

The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) has announced that after detailed study, the state will be tearing down the old U.S. 61 Hastings Bridge. Several alternatives were studied, but in the end, it was decided was to remove the old bridge. Various design alternatives are being considered for the replacement structure — from an arch style to a cable bridge design.
