Thank you SuperVolunteers!

Nearly one hundred committed citizens each contributed 20 hours or more to the work of Friends of the Mississippi River in 2008, earning the title of SuperVolunteer!
These especially dedicated individuals came from several different programs, representing the many ways river-lovers can be involved with FMR:
- 30 Stream Health Evaluation Program volunteers monitored streams in the Rice Creek Watershed District, analyzing concentrations of stream-dwelling macroinvertebrates to access the health of waters feeding the Mississippi.
- 34 volunteers helped keep Mississippi River Challenge participants safe and comfortable by assisting with planning, serving as safety captains or simply pitching in throughout the event weekend.
- 33 dedicated people provided essential internal support, from helping with clerical assistance as part of the Tuesday Night Crew to taking event photos to serving on a committee or the board.
- 21 Gorge Leadership Team members [including pictured members Karen Jenkins, left, and Maggie Hill] received extensive restoration training and put it to work at the oak savanna and other important sites in the Minneapolis River Gorge.
- A handful of very independent and invaluable native seed collectors, invasive species removers and frog- and toad-counters assisted with invaluable habitat restoration and research.
All SuperVolunteers receive a SuperVolunteer T-shirt, not to mention our eternal gratitude.
