FMR nominated for Wildlife Habitat Council's Community Partner of the Year Award

The Flint Hills site features native prairie, oak savanna and oak forest along the Mississippi River bluffs in Rosemount.
Since 1999, FMR has partnered with Flint Hills Resources to restore and enhance the natural areas along the Mississippi River Blufflands, at their Rosemount Refinery site. This year, FMR along with Great River Greening, another of the projects partners, have been nominated for the Wildlife Habitat Councils 2009 Community Partner of the Year Award. This national award, initiated in 1998, goes to one organization or individual for making a significant contribution and lasting impact on a corporate site's wildlife habitat enhancement programs through hands-on environmental awareness and enhancement activities. We are also very pleased that Flint Hills Resources was nominated for the WHCs 2009 Corporate Habitat of the Year Award. We feel that Flint Hills has made a long-term commitment to improving the habitat values on their bluffland property. This award would be a fitting tribute to this commitment. A list of the 2009 award nominees can be found at wildlifehc.org.
Since the Flint Hills Resources bluffland restoration project began, many acres of native prairie, oak savanna and oak forest along the Mississippi River bluffs in Rosemount have been restored and enhanced. We are proud of our accomplishments in this project and for being nominated for this award. It is only through these landowner partnerships that we are able to make a lasting and positive impact on the health of the river.
