FMR welcomes new policy advocate

Alicia Uzarek joined FMR in November as our new policy advocate.

Alicia Uzarek joined FMR on November 4th as our new policy advocate. Previously the Program and Outreach Manager for the West Broadway Coalition in North Minneapolis, Alicia has a masters degree in urban & regional planning from the U of M Humphrey School of Public Affairs.

She has extensive experience working with neighborhood organizations and local governments, and will assist in a variety of outreach, advocacy, and technical assistance projects including FMRs Critical Area Rulemaking work and the Blue Star Award Program.

I am very excited to have the opportunity to work for FMR to protect the Mississippi River and its watershed in the Twin Cities area, said Alicia. I look forward to meeting and working with river stakeholders as well as FMRs members, volunteers and partners to protect and improve this amazing river.

Alicias passion for the health of the Mississippi River and surrounding area started when she was growing up in the Twin Cities and recreating along the shores. She continues to enjoy running, biking, swimming, and canoeing within the Mississippi River corridor.

Alicia can be reached at auzarek@fmr.org or by phone at (651) 222-2193, extension 29.
