Betsy Daub

[Former] Conservation Director

Professional Bio

Betsy has worked in conservation for more than 30 years. Her love of nature and the outdoors began by exploring the Sonoran Desert of Tucson, Arizona where she grew up. Betsy has a particular interest in birds and in preserving their habitats. Her research and conservation work has involved studying Common Loon wintering behavior in Connecticut, Puerto Rican Parrots in the rainforests of Puerto Rico, prairie marsh bird nesting and survival in the wetlands of Canada, and hawk migration in Pennsylvania.

She has worked for Audubon Minnesota, Audubon New Mexico, the Minnesota Department of Natural Resources, and Friends of the Boundary Waters Wilderness. Betsy has also been a science teacher to middle and high school students.

FMR Role

Betsy coordinates the efforts of the Land Conservation program. She works with public and private landowners and partnering conservation organizations to protect, restore and enhance natural areas that are important for the life of the river.
