Show Some Love for the River
Looking for a cozy, family-friendly winter activity where you can advocate for the Mississippi? Join FMR for Kernza pancakes, coffee and crafts and a chance to tell your legislators about your love for the river.
FMR is hosting our fourth annual Show Some Love for the River event at our office in St. Paul. You're welcome to join us anytime between 10 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. to share a fresh pancake breakfast and make a Valentine's Day card to send to decision-makers about key issues facing the Mississippi River this legislative session.
This year, alongside making valentines for lawmakers about the river, we will also be showing love for our community members. We'll be crafting valentines and collecting donations for our West Side Saint Paul neighbors who are struggling during this difficult time.
Below is the list of donation requests from Harding High School, a school we work with through our youth programming at FMR. Bring any of these items to our Show Some Love event, and FMR will deliver them to the organizers later in the week.
- Corn tortillas
- Maseca
- Bouillon cubes
- Ramen
- Individually wrapped snacks
- Rice (jasmine, basmati, white, wild)
- Dried black beans
- Dried chickpeas
- Garlic Onions
- Potatoes

- Oranges

If you're not into making crafts, feel free to stop by and chat with FMR staff, learn about our legislative priorities for 2025 and have some pancakes.
