Rambling River Clean Up
by Tom Elko
Dozen of volunteers turned out to help clean up the Rambling River in Farmington, MN over the weekend. The event was organized through FMR's Vermillion Watershed Stewards program as part of a larger city-wide event.
In additon to picking up trash, the kid-friendsly event featured educational exhibits, free saplings to celebrate Arbor Day, and the Southern Dakota County Sportsmen's Club released approximately 300 trout into the river.
The Vermillion Stewards program engages local citizens in activities that protect the Vermillion River and the many tributaries, lakes and wetlands that makes up its watershed. The Vermillion is the only trophy trout stream in the country within a metro area and an important tributary of the Mississippi River.
