Action Alert: Support funding the River Learning Center [CLOSED]

With the state legislative session coming to a busy close, your advocacy is needed to ensure that the River Learning Center is included in the final bonding bill this year! The River Learning Center will serve as a destination for visitors from across Minnesota and beyond our borders. Through recreational opportunities, educational programming and scientific research, visitors will meet the Mississippi River and deepen their understanding of how the river affects all of us. The River Learning Center will be located in St. Paul at Watergate Marina between Hidden Falls Regional Park and Crosby Farm Regional Park.

FMR is supporting a $3 million bonding request that would fund community engagement, design development, environmental review and permitting. This proposal is in jeopardy during the legislature’s final negotiations this year. In addition to the City of St. Paul, supporting organizations include Mississippi Park Connection, Wilderness Inquiry and Capitol Region Watershed District. The National Park Service will also provide programming at the site.

Note: this action alert is only for St. Paul residents or residents of House District 3B and Senate District 25. If you'd still like to take action, please contact Rep. Mary Murphy and Sen. David Senjem to tell them to support funding for the River Learning Center.
