FMR is fortunate to have three talented and high-energy interns this fall: Heather Kachel, Summer Hendrickson and Peter Oleson!
Heather Kachel is a student in the University of Minnesotas Higher Education Consortium for Urban Affairs (HECUA) Environmental Sustainability Program and has a real thirst for knowledge when it comes to water resources issues. Currently, she is wading into the deep and complicated problems surrounding the health of the Minnesota River as part of her studies. Heather assists with coordination of stewardship events, manages event photos and FMR's Flickr account, and will also be conducting a survey of FMR's 2010 volunteers.
Summer Hendrickson is spending her days this fall as an intern at Carpenter Nature Center in Hastings, and assisting FMR with coordination of stewardship events on evenings and weekends. Having volunteered with FMR and WHEP (Wetland Health Evaluation Program) in the past, Summer brings with her a real understanding of the volunteer experience and an ability to anticipate what needs to happen at events.
Back in the office, intern Peter Oleson is hard at work on behalf of the Mississippi River Challenge, raising premiums and helping with marketing and communications. Its a position hes well suited for, having earned his marketing degree from the University of Iowa earlier this year. According to his supervisor, Christine Lee, Event Marketing and Logistics Coordinator for the MRC, Peter has already proven to be an outstanding intern and vital asset to the 2011 Mississippi River Challenge.
Welcome and thank you Heather, Peter and Summer!
