Brush haul and bonfire at Rosemount Preserve and North 20 Brewing, Rosemount [WAITLIST]
A volunteer smiles in front of a buckthorn bonfire held in 2025 at North 20 Brewing
Please note that this event is full, but a waitlist is being taken.
Join FMR and North 20 Brewing to haul buckthorn brush and enjoy a bonfire in the woodland directly adjacent to the Rosemount Wildlife Preserve, a 24-acre restoration site nestled among other protected habitat areas, including Lebanon Hills Regional Park and other woodland habitat owned by the City of Rosemount. At this rare wintertime stewardship opportunity, volunteers will transport buckthorn brush to active burn piles maintained by FMR's event partners, Native Resource Preservation.
After the event, all volunteers will receive a token for a free beverage at North 20 Brewing. Both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options will be available. Food will also be available for purchase from North 20 Brewery's kitchen.
No experience is necessary. FMR staff will provide orientation, supplies and support. All volunteers ages 16 and over are welcome, but capacity is limited, and registration is required. Volunteers under the age of 18 must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Accessibility
Volunteers will work on fairly level but uneven terrain, with some downed branches and cut stumps. The event also will involve traversing grassy areas where there are no paths. The entire work area may be covered in snow that has not been shoveled.
Hauling and stacking buckthorn is a high-impact activity. Volunteers are encouraged to take breaks as needed.
There will be an indoor restroom and warming house space available at North 20 Brewing.
Ready to join the waitlist? (Sorry, walkups are not allowed.)
All participants must be at least 16 years of age. Participants under 18 must attend with a parent or guardian. Parents and guardians of participants who are under 18 must fill out this minor permission form.
Each potential participant must be entered individually using the registration form so that we can request the correct number of seats in kayaks and on the shuttle bus.
Please use the form below to join the waitlist, but watch for an email from Eventbrite for your next steps:
-
You must open the message and follow the steps to sign up within 24 hours of receipt.

It is a rolling waitlist. If you do not open the email and complete the registration form within 24 hours, the spot will automatically be offered to the next party on the list.
