Clean prairie seed at FMR

Wednesday, December 11, 2024 - 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Friends of the Mississippi River office in St. Paul
Hands holding seeds

Join FMR at our St. Paul office to clean native prairie seed collected by volunteers from FMR restoration sites.

FMR staff will broadcast the cleaned seed within some of our habitat projects to improve biodiversity and create food and nesting resources for wildlife, including many rare species that depend on native plants.

No experience or supplies are necessary. FMR staff will provide orientation and support. All are welcome, but capacity is limited, and registration is required.

Accessibility

Seed cleaning is a low-impact activity that can be performed sitting down. It requires using fine motor skills to separate seeds from chaff and other material. Seed cleaning can be a dusty activity, and we will be working in an area with concrete floors. FMR's building has a ramp to the exterior door and an elevator to the area where we'll work.
