FMR is proud to partner with the Hastings Environmental Protectors (HEP) to install pollinator patches at two locations in Hastings, Vermillion Falls Park and CP Adams. Vermillion Falls Park is a well known local park drawing visitors to see it's name sake - Vermillion Falls. CP Adams is a Hastings community park and disc golf course. Both of these sites will greatly benefit from the addition of these pollinator patches that will provide a much-needed resource for a variety of pollinators as well as create a beautiful landscape of diverse plants. Planting in patches makes it easier for the birds, bees, butterflies, and other pollinators to find the pollen they are seeking versus spacing out individual plants.
Volunteers will work in two small groups with FMR staff and HEP members. As always, all tools and training will be provided and volunteers are encouraged to work at their own pace and comfort level.
This event is also part of the Vermillion Stewards program, helping residents learn about the watershed while working to protect and enhance its unique natural resources.
Thank you partners Hastings Environmental Protectors (HEP), Hastings United Way and funders Vermillion River Watershed Joint Powers Organization, Pentair and the Winter Wheat Foundation.
