FMR’s 20th anniversary celebration was a great success

Dove Hill, the beautifully restored home of this years gracious hosts, Nancy and Dick Nicholson, resounded with river talk, laughter and excitement on the evening of Sept. 24, 2013. Our hosts and FMR staff welcomed nearly 200 guests to enjoy delightful food and beverages, a brief history of this house atop St. Pauls most notable bluff, and live auction featuring some very distinctive river-related items. Senator Dave Durenberger and FMR Board member Sue Vento, made an impassioned call for support and Garrison Keillor offered a lyrical appreciation of what the Mississippi means to our community. The evening closed with Keillor leading a group sing-along to the classic song from the musical Steamboat, Ol Man River. What a night!

This annual fundraising event was our most successful yet, and we thank our hosts, host and co-host committees, live auction and in-kind contributors, and all the attendees and donors for their support. Special thanks to these local businesses for their contributions: Birchwood Cafe, Create Catering, East Lake Liquors, Fladeboe Auctions, Fulton Beer, and Mother Earth Gardens.

The evening raised more than $100,000 to support FMRs work, and the river will benefit as a result!
