For our 30th anniversary, our wish is for you to join us in restoring, protecting and enhancing the Mississippi River.
In the past, development proposals for the former county jail site in downtown St. Paul have fallen through. It's a challenging area: a bluff, railroad tracks and Shepard Road separate the river's edge from the city. But AECOM's proposed Riversedge project thinks big about how to overcome these challenges — and might ultimately deliver. >>
Read moreThe redevelopment of the former West Publishing and county jail site on the bluffs of the Mississippi in downtown St. Paul hit another snag recently when the landowner, Ramsey County, and the prospective developer, Cardon Development Group, decided to part ways. The county is now considering plans that call for less parking.
FMR has been closely following efforts to redevelop the site and recently served on a task force formed by the county and the city to provide guidance. >>
From the archives, circa 2008... If local leaders see their hopes realized, a stretch of land on the downtown St. Paul riverfront with tremendous potential will soon be redeveloped into new office space, hotel rooms and housing.
