Tell the St. Paul City Council to request a full cleanup of Area C

On Wednesday, Feb. 25, the St. Paul City Council will vote on a resolution requesting a full cleanup of the Ford Area C dumpsite. If you're a St. Paul resident, use the form below to urge your council member to support that resolution.

We know from monitoring wells that toxic waste is still leaking from this site into the river. Yet the MPCA has recommended only a partial cleanup, focusing on the removal of surface debris and the installation of some erosion controls.

This approach is inadequate. It fails to address the hazardous waste ensconced in the middle of the pile.

The MPCA claims it does not have the authority to require Ford to pay for a full cleanup. However, under state Superfund law, the MPCA can hold a polluter responsible for permanent, full cleanup.

St. Paul Council Member Saura Jost's resolution calls for a full cleanup of Ford Area C. This will memorialize the council's position in favor of a full cleanup and put further political pressure on the MPCA to hold Ford accountable.

Help us get the message across to decision-makers. Tell your St. Paul council member to vote in favor of the resolution calling for a full cleanup of the site.
