Welcome Alex, our new Stewardship & Education Program Associate

Alexandra Jabbarpour by the river

Alexandra Jabbarpour is no stranger to Friends of the Mississippi River.

While in college, they worked with FMR partner Dr. Roopali Phadke engaging with community members about the future of locks and dams on our urban stretch of the river. So we already know they're versed in water policy and Twin Cities issues.

Then, in the interview process for this position, "Alex blew us away with their energetic personality, thoughtful communication, and passion for environmental and social justice work," said Stewardship & Education Program Director Natalie Warren.

We're so excited to bring on Alex to lead our Storm Drain Stenciling and Education Program and the Stream Health Evaluation Program. They'll also collaborate on our other stewardship and educational initiatives. Alex looks forward to meeting our volunteers and participants.

Recently returned from a one-year teaching Fulbright in Austria after graduating from Macalester College, Alex is excited to be back in the area. They enjoy being outdoors, as well as photography and videography, painting, dancing and more. Their favorite spot on the river is where the Minnehaha Creek joins the Mississippi below Minnehaha Falls.
