Vermillion River Corridor Plan workshops completed

A draft of the plan has been released. [PDF]
For the past year, Dakota County staff and residents, in partnership with FMR and Hoisington Koegler Group, Inc., have been working to develop a comprehensive vision for the future of the Vermillion River.
The plan is designed to protect and enhance water quality, habitat, and recreation opportunities in the Vermillion River corridor, while providing a framework for future growth and resource governance.
A series of three workshops provided opportunities for residents and stakeholders to add their voices to the plan. Ideas were gathered, presented, and refined in the summer and winter workshops. In the final workshops April 26th and 28th, participants reviewed a draft corridor plan, identified collaboration opportunities for corridor improvements, and recommended priorities for improvement actions.
Partners for the Vermillion River Corridor Planning project include Dakota County, Scott County and the Vermillion River Watershed Joint Powers Organization. This project is funded by the Legislative-Citizen Commission on Minnesota Resources, the Vermillion River Watershed, and Active Living Dakota County.
