Action Alert: Tell Minnesota to invest in clean water [CLOSED]
This session, FMR is championing a pair of innovative, bipartisan bills that will help Minnesota achieve our clean water goals while diversifying our croplands and strengthening rural communities.
- Fully fund Forever Green (HF 962 & SF 134): $10 million for the University of Minnesota’s Forever Green nation-leading crop research initiative to develop and promote new crops that protect our water while maintaining farm profitability.
- Working Lands Drinking Water Protection program (HF 1569 & SF 1637): $8.5 million to launch the pilot phase of the Working Lands Drinking Water Protection Program. This program will help farmers plant and sell alternative crops that protect drinking water while maintaining farm profitability on the state's most vulnerable wellhead protection areas.
Both bills will soon be heard by key committees in the Minnesota House & Senate. Please join us in asking for committee members to support full funding for both initiatives.
Once passed, these bills will make Minnesota a leader in developing more sustainable, profitable and diversified cropping systems that improve habitat, water quality, climate and soil health while boosting rural economic development. It’s a win-win for all Minnesotans.
