What's my city doing?

The riverfront in north and northeast Minneapolis

Protecting our riverfront together

As our 25 metro river cities and townships craft new rules for land use and development throughout our metro Mississippi, FMR is proud to serve as a resource for metro river city planners, local decisionmakers and everyday residents.

The cities and townships adopting MRCCA ordinances will do so gradually between 2020-2022. The DNR has a schedule noting when each community will be directed to begin its ordinance development process; cities have a year from this date to adopt their ordinance.

As cities undertake their work, we’ll share information with you about when and how to get involved, along with specific considerations your city might want to address in their ordinance.

The best way to get an update from FMR when it’s time to get involved in your community is to become a River Guardian today. We’ll send out updates when your city’s work is underway.
