On January 18, the Minnesota House Climate Action Caucus introduced an ambitious $1 billion Climate Action Plan to address the climate crisis.

The newly released plan lays out a comprehensive strategy to achieve the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change consensus goal of a 45% reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by 2030 and a carbon-free future by 2050.

Act today to show your support for this critical climate investment.

The plan includes major new investments in three of FMR's top priorities for this legislative session. These investments will reduce agricultural pollution, improve habitat and soil health and enhance rural economic resilience.

1. Supporting clean-water crops by investing in Forever Green: $20 million to develop agricultural products and practices that conserve soil and water while driving economic opportunity through the University of Minnesota's nation-leading Forever Green Initiative and Forever Green Partnership.

2. Growing the industry for clean-water crops and CLC: $10 million to assist start-up entrepreneurs and cooperatives (such as Perennial Pantry or the Perennial Promise Growers Cooperative) invest in equipment, storage, processing and distribution infrastructure to help bring next-generation "continuous living cover" (CLC) crops from the farm gate to the retail shelf.

3. Funding the Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program: $40 million to support the Minnesota Conservation Reserve Enhancement Program (CREP), Lawns to Legumes and other state programs that conserve native habitat.

Please take a moment to send a message to your legislators and Gov. Walz in support of this critical investment. With your support, we can help make these proposed investments a reality during the 2022 legislative session.
